“FORCE”
May 8 - June 27, 2021
Southern Vermont Arts Center
None are underpinned or based in any common aesthetic, approach of subject or thought, but encompasses a wide range of forays and investigations into artistic expression and how physical objects exist in the landscape. The exhibition represents a collection of contemporary expressions of what is possible. Work exploring the variety of concepts, themes, and questions related to Force is featured both within the Wilson Gallery and installed outdoors at SVAC.
Artists included in the Force exhibition include SAW staff, board members, exhibitors, and other partners from across its 16 years of programming, residencies, and existence as a sculpture park. Which will encompass sculpture, paintings, prints, mixed media, glass, ceramics, and more.
Conducting studio visits as well as reviewing the artist’s application has been rather joyful. For instance, I have visited Zack Lobdell’s studio in Gansevoort, NY several times leading up to the show, and everytime there is a pliable energy and excitement as well as newly completed paintings that have a vivid life.
